About Us
We are focused on whole health care and the integration of behavioral health and substance use interventions into primary care, with attention to rural and/or underserved populations across North Carolina. These projects are led by Principal Investigator & Project Director, Dr. Victoria Soltis-Jarrett, PhD, PMHNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN.
Dr. Soltis-Jarrett’s program of scholarship continues to elevate the role of a Nurse Practitioner as a viable and sustainable option for increasing access to whole health care in rural and remote areas in the USA and in Australia for over 25 years. She advocates for NPs to demonstrate the many ways in which they can provide clinically competent and culturally sensitive whole health care and fill the gaps in provider availability, especially in rural North Carolina. At Carolina, over $14 Million in funding has fueled this unique and innovative NP student traineeship and NP postgraduate residency program. The Carolina Nursing Excellence in Whole Health Care has robust outcomes that highlight how NPs are Leading the Way in North Carolina.
